Welcome to the Nano Reef Project!
This site is dedicated to providing a first person perspective on keeping this relatively new concept of reef keeping. Also, in the hopes of conservation, perhaps we can push the widespread use of captive bred corals. Our coral reefs are becoming endangered and without every aquarists support, we cannot lessen the stress our collecting has on countless reefs around the world. Granted many corals also die due to pollution, but as aquarist who love the oceans we try so hard to replicate, we have a responsibility to make an effort to reduce the strain our hobby has on these reefs.
Captive bred corals have advantages over wild caught specimans in that they are much more hardy, are used to being handled, and are generally cheaper to purchase. An excellent resource for captive bred corals is the GARF Project. They have a pretty good deal where they will sell you 7 corals for the price of 5 ($100+s/h).
Hopefully you, the reader, will be able to follow my experience into the Nano Reef on a daily basis. I want to provide as much information to you as possible so perhaps you might one day keep a nano reef of your own! So please delve into my site and put on your fins!
